Getting into Padstow & Wadebridge without a car?

Here at The Laurels we often get asked is it possible to get into Padstow & Wadebridge without a car?

The answer is most definitely YES

Whether you are a cycling enthusiast, love a good walk, like to catch the bus or prefer the convenience of a taxi there's options for everyone.

Take a look at the map below that we've put together that shows you how to walk or cycle from The Laurels down to The Camel Trail and then into either Padstow or Wadebridge.

The red route is the safest route to avoid the main A39 via the bridle path from our entrance and then down country lanes. But please note the lane can become wet and muddy during Autumn & Winter (and sometimes in the summer if we have a particulary wet summer!)

The blue route is best when it is wet, cross over the main road and follow the country lanes opposite then cross back over the road and pick up the red route again down to the Camel Trail.

Both routes are about the same distance. 

You'll also pass The Quarryman Inn, a lovely dog friendly pub perfect for a cheeky pint on the way home.

Note the section of route between The Quarryman Inn and the Access to The Camel Trail is quite a steep hill (we recommend walking this part) the rest of the route is relatively flat.

Bus Information

There are 2 bus stops right outside The Laurels to get you to many different destinations:

Padstow Fork: This bus stop is on the main A39 which you can catch the Number 90 to Truro or the Number 92 to Newquay. Both buses go to Wadebridge in the opposite direction.

Hals Grave: This bus stop is right outside our entrance on the A389, here you can catch the  Number 11 to take you either to Padstow or Wadebridge (it also continues up to Bodmin and Plymouth via Bodmin Parkway Train Station).

Once in Padstow you can also connect to the  Number 56 to take you along the coast into Newquay stopping at most of the beaches along the way.

Once in Wadebridge you can connect onto the Number 95 to take you up to Bude via Boscastle & Tintagel or the Number 96 to take you to Rock, Polzeath and Port Isaac.

Please note if you know you need a taxi on a certain evening I would book well in advance (also book your return) as they get very full very quickly during peak times.
